I see OP has not made a detailed proposal, including on-disk representation.  No problem.  For interop, on-disk representation of the comma-v file must not change, anyway (so that portion of the request is groundless, please ignore).

Aside from lack of design, i'm at the moment leery of changing time/date parsing functionality, mostly because RCS uses its own homegrown routines.  Perhaps one day, we can transition to use those of Gnulib.

So, setting status to Postponed and closing the bug.  However, the discussion is unlocked, so if/when Gnulib routines make it into RCS (and someone remembers :-D), we can always re-open the bug.

I think it's a resaonable request that unfortunately throws a wrench into the interoperability of RCS w/ itself (old) and other tools which have come to rely on the YYYY/MM/DD format, archaic as it may be.

Note that Id is not the only substituted keyword.  There is also Date, Header and Log.  Feel free to post a more detailed proposal that takes these into account.  It should also address changes to the on-disk representation. if any.

I will set the status of this bug to Need Info and wait a few months for the detailed proposal.

Is it possible to use the ISO 8601 date format for the RSC Id line? http://www.iso.org/iso/home/standards/iso8601.htm

Rather than
2015/01/03 21:01:08
It can read
2015-01-03T21:01:08
or at least
2015-01-03 21:01:08

Of course, the usual maxim applies: be strict in what you emit, be generous in what you accept. Thanks, and happy new year!
