Current default option values make grub-install put GRUB files into the \boot\grub directory at the root of whichever drive letter grub-install happens to be run from. This may come as an unpleasant surprise to the user: the installation could fail with a confusing "disk `hostdisk/\\\\?\\Z:' not found" message (when e.g. Z: is a drive-mapped network share), or the user could unwittingly perform a cross-disk install.
