Well this is a separate problem. Please file a separate bug report detailing what you see and which values for gfxmode you tried.

I've tested it now under BZR revision 4820 (Most recent revisions have a problem with arg-nonnull.h that is not included more in build-aux directory), compiled, installed, and successfully booted Arch. At least, the boot problem is solved now. But i remain unable to get GRUB_GFXMODE=auto to work correctly.

I have an Inspiron 14z, A10 BIOS Rev. Using Arch Linux, Grub version 2.00-1 from stable Arch repos.

I've managed to surpass the hang using GRUB_GFXMODE=text. I don't know if this is related to the hybrid graphics configuration of this model, or what else is causing the hang.

But even skipping the initial hang, grub stays reporting the  "Couldn't terminate EFI services" error. I have to press enter again over the Arch grub entry, and then i'm dropped to a recovery TTY (Grub doesn't seem to pass the kernel arguments correctly after the EFI services error). Then I mount my root over /new_root, and start the init process manually.

I'm going to try with the BZR one and check if that fixes at least one of the problems.

bug originally reported <a href="https://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/pre-release-beta/483412-12-3-boot-hang-uefi-gpt-system-w-grub2-efi.html">here</a> in OpenSuSE forums.

Details on my machine:
Dell Inspiron 15z 5523 with i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, 500 GB SATA main hard drive (sda), 32 GB mSATA SSD secondary drive (sdb). I have confirmed that I am using the latest firmware release as of the date of this post.

OS - OpenSuSE 12.3 x64 with GRUB2-EFI bootloader installed

GPT partition layout on both drives:
on /dev/sda
sda1 - 256 MB fat32 EFI-BOOT partition mounted at /boot/efi
sda2 - 256 MB ext4 partition mounted at /boot
sda3 - 8.25 GB swap
sda4 - remainder of disk space as BtrFS partition mounted at /home

on /dev/sdb
sdb1 - BtrFS mounted at /

When I boot in UEFI mode using the "set page=1" and "set debug=all" flags set I get a hang at the following output - <a href="http://susepaste.org/60068693">screenshot</a>

I am able to boot in legacy boot mode without issue.
