Thanks for the report.  Considering the affected systems are not mainstream, I'm changing severity to "minor".

Yes, that would be the ideal, but until someone (maybe me, maybe not me) figures that out, is it not better to at least build the rest of coreutils without having to hand-edit configure and Makefile's?

It'd be better to port coreutils to the given hosts, wouldn't it?  There must be a way of finding out the currently-mounted file systems.

This happens on at least NSK(OSS) and Interix, and there is a FIXME about it. Instead of failing, 'configure' should disable targets (e.g. 'df') that need to read the mount table, perhaps with a big warning message.
