You need to remove the trailing slashes.  I have updated the documentation to point this out.   This "bug" is marked as fixed because it's a documentation defect.

updatedb has also been modified to detect and reject such arguments.

i'm using findutils 4.2.20
i launched
updatedb --prunepaths='/2burn/ /data/ /home/ /mnt /tmp /proc'
but when it was finished, locate $something returned a result in /2burn , so i presume the paths specified were NOT ignored.
i'm a totally stupid or i just found a huge bug ?
