Fri 10 Jun 2005 10:44:16 PM UTC, comment #5: I am experiencing something similar to this problem with an IBM eServer 326 (Opteron; I believe IBM designs their motherboards in house, but I could easily be wrong). Perhaps by being patient as a rock, I've noticed that GRUB actually does work - but it takes 14 minutes after the BIOS init for GRUB to get to the "GRUB Loading stage2..." message.

Having native serial is highly preferable. The BIOS redirection does some kind of screen scraping to detect screen updates and often misses stuff. |
