Unfortunately we do not currently have the resources to track down this kind of requests. Please reopen this bug if you can provide a patch, or if you're willing to work on this issue.

On older pc there is no "boot from usb" support in the BIOS.
And on newer systems you need to configure it in the BIOS.
But when its enabled, everyone can use it.
But when grub can boot from usb (with a entry and password in menu.lst) it would be really great.

So grub boots from hd and when its loaded you can then start from hd/floppy/usb.
