Corresponding source code
It is the command key in combination with wheel events that causes zooming or unzooming. This is wanted and especially useful if you have a wheel mouse. With the trackpad, the behaviour is a bit bumpy, because TeXmacs does not support all possible zoom factors (in order to reduce the memory footprints of the fonts). Ideally speaking, the behavior could still be made a bit smoother under this constraint. But it does not seem sufficiently important to spend much time on it.
