The feature in File > Export > Export selection as image… is very handy.

However, there is no hint that the file type (PDF, png…) is determined by the extension of the target file set by the user.

It is confusing, because all other export options make the user choose a format first, and a target file next.

In addition, if the user chooses a file without any extension, the export fails silently—which made me believe that this export feature simply did not work.
