No objection from me if it's desired to pull xcorr and xcov into Octave. They will probably need a little polish and some test cases written.

Matlab is a moving target.  Every release they seem to be moving functions between different packages or renaming them.

There's no philosophical objection to this.  If you can make a changeset that would be helpful.  Mike Miller maintains the signal package so you might want to reach out to him at -email is unavailable- about the best way to do this.

The list of 'statistics' functions currently available in core Matlab is listed here:

https://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/descriptive-statistics.html

Some of them correspond to functions that used to be in a toolbox (signal/stats) but moved to core so I wondered if we could do the same in Octave.

  • Functions currently in signal package from Octave Forge: xcorr, xcov

  • Not implemented functions: mink, maxk, topkrows
