Admittedly I completely forgot about this bug report (and the thread it referenced as well).

It took me while to grasp what the issue here is.
This report isn't so much about lambertw.m in the specfun package, the old threads don't matter here. The specfun package is unmaintained and I lost interest in it as lambertw is now in symbolic.
No, the issue is that lambertw is still mentioned on the Octave-Forge website (see URL in comment #0). That doc should be fixed + updated, or rather dropped completely.
Yeah and then I might have uncovered a can of worms with that suggestion :-)

Title adapted accordingly.

Looks like this could be closed since the function moved and is fixed comment #2

@Philip what are your thoughts?

Reading back the thread I remember that discussion, yes.

specfun wasn't cleaned up because the discussion (as often seems to happens in this list) ended in a stalemate - no clear cut decision came out.

I'm still happy to make a new specfun release though, if people agree, but I'd have to check out what needs to be done.

The numerical lambertw function lives in the Symbolic package now:

https://octave.sourceforge.io/symbolic/function/lambertw.html

(I just checked and this bug has been fixed there).

Background
==========

Some years ago, we moved a bunch of stuff from specfun to symbolic (they are still numerical implementation).  Here's a thread:

https://octave.1599824.n4.nabble.com/laguerre-m-functions-in-specfun-package-td4670060.html

I'm not sure we ever cleaned up or did a specfun release though.

Thank you for your report.  I suspect that the "specfun" package is unmaintained.  The last release was 2011-12-15.  If you want to take ownership of this package, please contact the maintainer mailing list https://www.gnu.org/software/octave/get-involved.html

In https://octave.sourceforge.io/specfun/function/lambertw.html the second calling form (with branch argument) lists the order of arguments in the wrong order.

Also the author email address in the documentation and source code is no longer valid.
