Can you use the qt or fltk toolkits for plotting?  gnuplot is not deprecated, but it is not the preferred plotting toolkit and it is not as well supported as the qt toolkit.

Ok so this script basically loads some transfer functions and then plots their responses to a generated signal. It also compares their responses with simulated data points from a txt file.
It didn't crash until I started using gnuplot and started adding legends.
