Fixed the spelling of "disallow" and checked in the changeset here: https://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/32d4ee071348.

Everything works for me now, closing report.

In cset ae9d6a491c06 I changed Fdrawnow so that it allows recursion (needed to have callbacks recursively interruptible). The attached patch restores the old behavior when there is no display.

I'm adding Pantxo to this bug report.

My guess is that drawnow() is being called from within the C++ code during the cronstruction of a graphics object. A simpler test example is

Confirmed.

There is lots of screwy stuff going on here. Even trying to debug it led to strange things where the keyboard() function did not stop the interpreter.

If I start with "--no-window-system", Octave used to use some ascii art (via gnuplot I believe).

Now I get:

In Octave 4.4.2, I get:

Probably no one really uses these sorts of things anymore but they are useful in automated testing.
