Thank you for your bug report. This is identical to bug #53840. A workaround is posted there having to do with the hold state. Closing this bug report as a duplicate.

An example script has been attached. When Gnuplot is used and the resulting figure is replotted, either automatically when resizing or by using the "replot" button, subplots 1 to 3 disappear and only subplot 4 remains.

This does not happen with Qt or FLTK.

Tested on Arch Linux and Windows 7 using Octave 4.4.1.
