Run nano and type ^G and see:

^O    (F3)      Write the current file to disk
^K    (F9)      Cut the current line and store it in the cutbuffer

Those two descriptions don't say what happens when some part of the buffer is marked.

    Write current buffer (or marked region) to disk
    Cut current line (or marked region) and keep it in cutbuffer
