Hi David, for me it's a problem if there is an incorrect, ignored ligature.

Deal is, there were 2 tables for Arabic 'rlig'.  The one you're talking about was accidentally copied out of FreeSerif, evidently. The other doesn't have that ligature.  I've now deleted the copied table.

Thanks!

As I said, there is no problem in FreeSerif Bold. I’ll still explain what I meant, since it does contain an incorrect (albeit ignored) ligature.

maddah.cmb doesn’t exist in FreeSerif Bold (the right name is maddahabv.cmb), which is why this bug doesn’t appear: the two mistakes cancel each other out.

Your first statement is right.  Just a boo-boo, an incorrect extra table entry.
Fix in SVN.
But I think FreeSerifBold is OK, for different reasons.  The glyph simply is named differently in the two styles, but bold doesn't have the incorrect entry.

In FreeSerif, the maddah of ⟨ﺎٓ⟩ (U+FE8E U+0653) looks like a fatḥatān. This is because there is a ligature of aleffinaarabic maddah.cmb to aleffathatanfina. This ligature also exists in FreeSerif Bold, but does not cause problems because maddah.cmb does not exist in that font.
