Sorry, I lost sight of this bug. Changeset
http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/d98d7df9fd15
implements the desired changes.

(1) What is the purpose of "Run Selection" in the command window? Running the selected text from the command window or from the editor?

It would be to execute the selected text in the command window. I do find it useful in the command window, e.g. to execute a small selection of a longer command previously typed.

So if you highlighted "a=1" in the Editor and also "a=2" in the Command Window, the code executed would depend on which window has the focus.

*(2) But there are also applications having undo/redo in context menu: geany, thunderbird mail composition, gedit, ...
What about just moving them downwards?*

Yes, that would be fantastic. Sorry again for seeming like an ingrate - all I should have said was to request Run Selection at the top of the context menu. Undo/Redo occupy those spots currently, that's all I meant.

(3) No problem

Appreciated.

It's not to directly clone Matlab; rather, the Undo/Redo functions (for me) do not get much use via the mouse - only from the toolbar. I guess this is reflected in their not being present in the context menu in 1 or 2 large packages (Matlab being one).

My "muscle memory" (built on Matlab) looks for Run Selection in the top position :) It would be convenient for sure for those who came from Matlab. Sorry if I gave a wrong impression x

As to 2, why should Octave be a verbatim copy of Matlab?

Correction: not Workspace. I meant Command Window.

I wonder if I could request a few tweaks to the Context menus in the Editor and the Workspace.

1. Can you put Run Selection at the top of the menus for both. Currently it is only shown in the Editor menu and quite far down the list.

2. Can you remove the Undo/Redo items from the context menu. I don't see them there in other applications (e.g. Matlab, Libreoffice) so it doesn't seem they are "hot" enough items to be there. Or not in the top slots anyway.

3. Can you add a separator between Redo and Copy in the Editor toolbar.

Thanks - this thing is really looking good now.
