The overviews for 2.4 and 2.6 have been added.

Now just the download page needs some work.  The packages for Solaris are no longer freely available, so all those links should probably go.  Instead it would be nice to have links to some major distributions -- besides Debian: Fedora, Suse, Arch, Gentoo, NetBSD...

Will add the overview of 2.4 soon, and think up one for 2.6 too.  The most important info is up-to-date now.

Hi Chris, I suggest the following bullet list for the 2.4 overview:

  • The undo/redo system has reached a usable state and is enabled by default.
  • Linter support, for automatically putting the cursor on syntax errors.
  • Formatter support, for normalizing the layout of a text instead of the spelling.
  • The ability to give different colours to titlebar, statusbar and help lines.

  • No longer finds "ghosts" of certain UTF8 characters.
  • Makes the mouse usable again for clicking on shortcuts.
  • Fixes several syntax colouring issues.
  • More syntax highlighting examples (autoconf, changelogs, elisp, Go, guile, javascript, json, PO files, postgresql, texinfo).

When that is up, I'll write one for 2.5.  (None for 2.3, as these overviews exist only for the stable series.)

Most of it looks good now.  Thanks.

However, on the downloads page, the "nano@GNU (ftp)" text still links to http://www.gnu.org/software/nano, but that page automatically redirects to nano-editor.org.  Not useful.  The link probably should be: http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/nano/.

Further, after "sparc:" the "2.6" link is dead.

On the Overview page, in the current 2.2 description, there are some typos.  The last word of the intro, "include", should not be there.  The first bullet item should not end with a period but with a patenthesis.  It's nicer if "soft" starts with a capital, and when "full line" is hyphened.  In the fifth item, "un-writable" needs no hyphen, should be one word, and "and" is probably better than a comma.  And in the last item "high" is lacking an "h".

The screenshots page is now much better.  But "setup" (as a noun) should be one word, without a space.

Not noted before: on http://www.nano-editor.org/dist/ the "latest" link needs to be remade, from v2.3 to v2.5.  And the nano-nightly.tar.gz could probably be deleted; it's ancient.

Updated the items you mentioned Benno.  Thanks for the 2.5 screenshot!

if you want to write a feature list for any of 2.3, 2.4 or 2.5 I'll be happy to put them up as well.  LMK.

Benno noticed the following issues with the website, which I will fix, hopefully tonight.

Taking a look at  http://www.nano-editor.org/, I notice the following:

SPARC RPMs,  BeOS Binaries  and  DOS binaries  are dead.
And the link for nano@GNU (ftp) redirects to the site itself;
the intended link is probably  http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/nano/.

newer one.  An example is attached.

still speaks of release 2.2.  Shall I write one for 2.5?

of v2.2 instead of v2.5.

listed?
