Hi,

The circled numbers in the Enclosed CJK Letters and Months block hav not been implemented in bold italic, due to the difficulty of fitting two bold digits into a bold circle.

I can work on a solution, but I don't see this as being a high priority issue.

The circled numbers up to 50 are now in Serif and Sans.
In SVN.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your fixing.

Emmanuel Vallois, I also think these symbol can also used for other scripts, but I can't get the reason to explain all the time until you posted. Thanks for your notice.

Hi Steve,

The characters requested by Hsing-yen are not specifically CJK.
Quoting [http://www.unicode.org/versions/Unicode7.0.0/ch22.pdf#G37392 Chapter 22 of Unicode 7.0, section
Enclosed CJK Letters and Months: U+3200–U+32FF]:

“It also contains circled numbers twenty-one through fifty, which constitute a continuation of the series of circled numbers from the Enclosed Alphanumerics block.”

Given that FreeSerif already provides glyphs for the entire Enclosed Alphanumerics block, it makes sense to have the series of enclosed numbers continued. The mere fact that these are located in a block which contains “CJK” in its name does not exclude them of GNU FreeFont. These characters have nothing more CJK than those in the Enclosed Alphanumerics block, given that (speaking of the latter) “most are encoded for compatibility with major East Asian character sets.”
However I fully agree that any other character in the Enclosed CJK Letters and Months block is out of scope, given the principle you quote.

Hi Hsing-yen,

We don't support CJK anything in Freefont, as explained on the FAQ. (http://www.gnu.org/software/freefont/FAQ.html under "Font Contents")

It seems that these characters would be better handled by a font that supports CJK. Is there any reason to think differently?

Hi Steve,

I found the Unicode block "Enclosed CJK Letters and Months" also have encoded some enclosed numbers, please adding support for them.

These numbers are encoded in:
U+3248 — U+324F;
U+3251 — U+325F;
U+32B1 — U+32BF.
