This problem is gone in the current debian unstable with libgtk-3-dev version 3.16.4-2. Iceweasel opens an shows the correct site. So psppire does not crash on

Macos via macports
Windows
Debian unstable

The crash happens on debian old-stable (debian 7).

I have not tried the current debian stable (debian 8).

This is acknowledged as a bug in Gtk+ and has been fixed upstream.
I don't think there is any way that we can avoid it, or work around it, except to mention that if it causes problems to users they should upgrade Gtk to version 3.15.5 or later.

So ... Closing as "Not our problem!"

Just to inform you, I don't have this issue on MSWindows. So that supports the idea that this is indeed a bug in GTK3 as John suggests. I can't figure out since which version it is fixed, but the version I use seems recent enough.

When I do this on MacOS, then a window opens which says

"Link could not be displayed"
"Procedure is not supported"

in german. Then I can close that window.

This might be a bug in GTK+, since GTK+ appears to implement the whole dialog in question.

I see different, but still incorrect, behavior: when I click on the link an Emacs window pops up and attempts to send an email to email address "http:  fsf.org/@nicira.com" (where nicira.com is an email domain where I have an address).  I can see in "ps" that there is a mutt process running:

30363 pts/10   Ss+    0:00 /usr/bin/mutt http://fsf.org/

Quite a WTF.

Run Psppire
Click Help|About|License
Click on the hyperlink http://fsf.org/
The program crashes.
