Hi,

I think I know the trigger for the bug.

It happens with letters that refer to other glyphs, have the TrueType flag to take their dimension from the other glyph, and...the reference is rotated.
Somebody forgot to take an absolute value or something.

That is:
1) character reference
2) reference rotated 180°
3) flag set to use reference's dimensions

This may be helpful information to provide with a bug report.

I'll do a thorough test when I get the time.

I see the effect in MS Notepad on Windows 7, with the program set to display FreeSerif (I haven't updated the font in some time on this machine though.)

But this is an application-specific issue.

In Firefox on Windows 7 it looks great.
In Internet Explorer on Windows 7 it looks great.

In OpenOffice Writer on Linux, it looks great.

As for this sample text, the language is Kabiyé of northern Togo, this text is copied from a Wikipedia article "IPA", you can find it at section "Standard orthographies and capital variants".

Well, I am using Windows 8.1, the interface is zh-hans version. I just copied this sentence from web to Notepad and BabelPad to test.

Hi,

Your screenshots seem to show a bug in a specific Windows program.
I find it difficult to imagine what in FreeFont could have been responsible.

I re-worked the "Epsilon Latin", as well as adjusting the position and kerning of some of these letters. See attached. (Made in Firefox on Linux with FreeSerif as in SVN.)

I would be glad to see more text in this language...what language is it?

Thanks!

On my system, the letters don't "overlay" at all (do you mean "overlap"?)

Please provide a screenshot.

To my eye, in FreeSerif, this letter is indeed a little too far to the right, given its shape. I will move it a bit to the left.

You should understand that the graphical display of letters is done by a separate layer of software on your system, not the font itself. This software varies from system to system, and from time to time.

Thanks!

Hi Steve,

I found capital Open O (Ɔ) seems overlay on the other letter when I use FreeSerif (only in Regular type) at Notepad. You will see this bug after copy this sentence:

MBƱ AJƐYA KIGBƐNDƱƱ ŊGBƐYƐ KEDIƔZAƔ SƆSƆƆ TƆM SE.
