and I'm sure we'll be working together again on other Octave projects.

Sure.

And, if you ever have some time to learn more about the
display of quantitative information, the definitive source
is:

Edward Tufte, The Visual Display of Quantitative Information.

Sorry we disagree, but it happens from time to time.  No hard feelings on my side and I'm sure we'll be working together again on other Octave projects.

Well, I do not agree. It is important from the beginning
to encourage people to title their data plots correctly.
Correct titling and annotation are essential for any plot.
Describing what the data are is hardly a "correction."
Your analogy to physics is not correct. I teach both physics
and statistics.

So, the right way to fix this in your view is to remove
the title and axis label commands from plotimages.m.
That, in fact, was the way the Manual was a few years ago.

So, do it your way if you want, but the way it is now is
both wrong and, as you say, confusing.

Actually, I've decided that the documentation is clearer as written.  When someone is learning something new it is best to concentrate on the essentials, and then add the refinements later.  For example, in physics we don't start teaching students immediately about relativistic corrections to mass.  Instead we start out with Newton's 3 laws and only later explain that in certain circumstances the equations change.

In this case, the annotations like titles and x- or y-labels are just window dressing which I think obscures the information trying to be conveyed.  And these topics are taken up later in the manual.

This was meant to be included with a previous report,
but it got missed.
This changes most of the Octave scripts in the Plotting Chapter
so that the script will actually produce the plot as shown.
