This issue is still open for me...
I'm using Octave 6.2 on Windows 10 64 bit (but the behavior was present also in the previous releases).
Mainly the command window starts correctly and keeps the same up to the freezing of the PC or the redirection to a different display (display 1-2 switch).
I think that the problem happens more frequently when a PC is frozen when connected to screen 1 and unfrozen after being connected to screen 2 (or to both).
The editor also has a problem of alignment in this case, but it is easily solved by a mouse scroll to impose a font scaling and a sort of 'refresh' of the window parameters.
The same operation on the command window is not possible, event modifying the font by acting on system parameters.
The only action for restoring the command window is to restart octave.
Maybe it would be useful a command to refresh the GUI (recomputing screen-dependent parameters) without losing the back-end.

Have you also tried the 4.0.0-rc4 installer from [1]

Experiencing the same thing in 3.8.2. Texts get mangled up, doesn't erase completely when deleting characters etc.

Win 8.1. Used installer.

Cursor behaves as expected in editor.

Did you use the installer or portable?

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on Lenovo T440s
Unofficial Octave MXE build 3.8.2-3 from http://mxeoctave.osuv.de/

In the command window, the cursor is to the left of the typing position, e.g. if I type the digits "0123456789" at the prompt, the cursor appears just to the left of the space between the 5 and 6. If one selects, copies, and pastes the text, it does not correspond with the highlighted text.

I have tried several different fonts, font sizes, and all the cursors with approximately the same results.
