Documentation sec. 4.3, "Directory-Based Limits" says:

"ā€˜-Iā€™ option accepts a comma-separated list of directories included in the retrieval. Any other directories will simply be ignored. The directories are absolute paths."

Please mention further:

"The inclusion is not unconditional, rather it is contingent upon the path having been reached as per URL or another included path."

For example:

wget -I /people/bozo,/people/adam ftp://host/

will not download the subdirectories bozo or adam, because the parent people directory has never been reached; do instead either of:

wget -I /people,/people/bozo,/people/adam ftp://host/

or simply

wget -I /people/bozo,/people/adam ftp://host/people/
