Looks like this bug affects the 3.8.0 release but is fixed in the development version. Marking as fixed.

Confirmed on the development branch as well with a recent tip (10/4/13: ddecb2e231d4).

Dear all,

I discovered the following parse error

octave:1> axis auto%([0,0])
parse error:

  syntax error

>>> axis auto%([0,0])
                   ^

The same with caxis and any other vector of length > 1 after the comment.
