Dear all

We have converted this issue into task #12732 to be implemented.

Thanks Andrew !

I copied your email to the task, so we keep it here.

GNU HEalth can compute the age of the patient and depending on the return value, GNU Health will get the adult or child. This way we can have only one box.

(From Andrew Gledhill)

That sounds a good idea. What about 2 check boxes?

1. Select ADULT default
dose / route / frequency
2. Select CHILD default dose / route / frequency

The
doctor / prescriber should be able to amend the default dose or route or
frequency before saving to the patient record.

Regards

Andrew

We are discussing with Sebastian this option :

  • Have a checkbox on the prescription line that allows to retrieve the standard administration route and dose.

  • Doing it this way, there won't be a default value that can create an issue, but there is a conscious action on the part of the health professional to select those values.

We believe that this would make us all happy :-)

What do you think ?

Dear Ronald, Pratik, Andrew and all

I am a bit more skeptic on this matter. Let me explain :

  • The first thing that comes to my mind is that medication should be personalized. Doses and frequencies of many meds are individual-dependent (age, current condition, comorbidities, ...), so I find a bit risky having a default value.

  • The other issue is that thoses should be associated to the particular vademecum. For instance, we have the WHO essential medicines module, but some other hospitals might use their own list.

What we do have on the medicament model is the presentation, composition, doses, etc.. There, and depending on the vademecum, we can fill in the conditions.

This is a very interesting topic and I know some of you are specialists in this area, so any feedback will be more than welcome !

Bests,

Ronald made a very good point. This function will help the doctors/physicians/nurses to use this software more efficiently and less time consuming to add all the drug info.

Is it possible to auto fill prescription lines depending on medicament?

Once a medicament is filled, it should then auto fill the rest of the prescription form. I am sure dosage, frequency .. can then auto fill since these are known for each medicament.
