When troubleshooting cryptomount, I was editing a menu entry from grub itself, I had an entry like thus:
cryptomount -u <uuid>
but it did not like the uuid for whatever reason (possibly another bug). So I deleted '-u 34352kj23.....' and hit tab a couple of times, eventually ended up with:
cryptomount (hd0,msdos3)
which comes back with:
Error: disk (hd0,msdos3) not found
another forum poster suggested I try:
cryptomount hd0,msdos3
which did work. Here is my original forum post on Gentoo:
