Tested on computer('arch'): mingw32-i686 and gnu-linux-x86_64.

Matlab R2011b adds the .m extension automatically. Have not tested what happens if a file without extension exists, or if a file with extension .m.m exists (and extension .m is used). But preferring the exact match would make sense.

: >file.m
octave

> run('file')

no such file, `C:\...\file'
error: called from `run' in file C:\Octave\Octave3.6.1_gcc4.6.2\share\octave\3.6.1\m\miscellaneous\run.m near line 55, column 7
error: called from:
error: C:\Octave\Octave3.6.1_gcc4.6.2\share\octave\3.6.1\m\miscellaneous\run.m at line 55, column 7

Expected result: Octave runs file.m.
