wget upstream supports --method that allows to specify which HTTP method should be used.  It will be part of the next wget version.

Dear Maintainer,
wget currently provides vast set of options, but sadly
do not provide DELETE method. This makes wget inferior
to curl in area of RESTful API scripting.
