The bug has been fixed under Unix (revision 7922). The fix also works under Windows, simply by never deleting the files in the tmp directory. Consequently, a better mechanism for cleaning things up remains to be implemented.

it's a duplicate of this bug: 30803 which had the misleading title "texmacs trashes .TeXmacs/system/tmp on exit"

I've changed that to "texmacs trashes .TeXmacs/system/tmp on entry"

Say you merely load a file containing graphics in a first texmacs instance, and then launch a second instance. Upon starting the new instance clears all temporary files and in particular cached images of the first instance. This causes trouble to the first instance when you scroll to images that have not yet been displayed, and sometimes crashes it if you persist to work with it. I've seen this several times.

IIRC this kind of interactions between sessions has already be reported in some form (maybe in the mailing lists) but I cannot retrieve it.

An idea: temporary files could have the pid in their name, so that we can check and only delete files of processes that have actually terminated.
