In the zile working directory:

\C-x\C-fMakefile\TAB\TAB

Correctly shows the '[Complete but not unique]' suffix in the minibuffer, but
then trying to select Makefile.am with the help of the tab key:

.a\TAB

actually deletes the .a leaving just Makefile again, rather than completing the name of Makefile.am ready for selection with RET.
