I think you can either try with -N or specify some exclusion rules (-X) for directories you don't want to traverse.

Was the provided information helpful?

I need to recursively download small page which contains index.html which contains link to a folder which contains some files. Directory structure on the server is files/file1.txt
If I do wget wget -r -nc http://www.example.com/user/ then I get:
http://www.example.com/user/folder/file1.txt also index.html is created in http://www.example.com/user which is fine.

However when I try to do it again then file1.ext is skipped which is fine, but http://www.example.com/user/folder.1 is created as a file which contains the list of all files - in this case file1.txt
If I do it one more time folder.2 is created etc...

I searched and tried hard, but I did not find any option how to suppress this behaviour - it would be nice if folder.1 is not created at all (I have a flash drive) or at least if it could be deleted once that folder is checked.

Obviously the workaround is to do recursive deletion of all .1 files after each run, but this is not ideal.

Thank you very much.
