A very interesting thing to note is that it speeds back up when the window loses focus.

While you're holding down an arrow key to get it to slow down, switch windows. The key presses are still being delivered, and the motion speeds up again.

I don't know what that means, but hopefully someone has a guess.

It's also interesting to note that the keypresses are still being delivered when gtk-gnash loses focus.
