Actually this info is available in listing, at least in current version. Closing

GRUB doesn't have an implementation to use planar layout (except it 320x200 mode), so with gfxmode/gfxpayload it always chooses a linear one

Some emulation software (VirtualBox in my case) are slow at emulating VGA modes that use a planar memory layout.

The memory layout information is supposed to be part of the VBE mode information.

Is it possible to include this information in the information vbeinfo outputs about a given mode?

If it was included it would be faster to figure out which mode would work fast in an virtual machine. It would of course also be beneficial if the default gfxmode was changed to one that doesn't use a planar memory layout (only if possible), as they seem quite hard to emulate in a fast way.
