This bug seems to have been corrupted, or else no description was given: either way I don't know what it's asking.

On Windows, a file type can only be associated with an application (e.g. text editor) in the explorer if the file has an extension, so my team has adopted the name Makefile.mak for makefiles.

GNU make has no apparent way to override/extend the default make file name list (other than modifying read.c).  It would be a useful option if make supported an environment variable or config file option that allowed the user to add new default make file names.  Thanks.
