findutils-4.3.9 uses a newer version of gnulib, and so this problem should be fixed.

Gentoo has a fix for this in Gentoo bug 197326

I can't reproduce this here (since I have a different GCC version) but I wonder if the code is not seeing the #define/typedef for ptrdiff_t in <stddef.h>.   Other than that I am not sure what might have caused this error.
