Newest www.gnu.org translation team Projects

Welcome to Savannah, the software forge for people committed to free software:

  • We host free projects that run on free operating systems and without any proprietary software dependencies.
  • Our service runs with 100% free software, including itself.
  • Why choose Savannah?

Savannah aims to be a central point for development, maintenance and distribution of official GNU software. In addition, for projects that support free software but are not part of GNU, we provide savannah.nongnu.org.

If you would like to use Savannah to host your project, then go to the Register new project menu entry.

We strongly recommend all Savannah users subscribe to this mailing list:

  • savannah-announce: low-volume notifications of important issues and changes at Savannah.

And this mailing list is a place for Savannah users to communicate and ask questions:

  • savannah-users: help with using Savannah in general (not with a specific project).

Happy hacking!

Thanks to the efforts of new volunteers, we've re-enabled new project submissions.

Volunteers are still needed. If you're able and interested in volunteering please write savannah-hackers-public@gnu.org (or -private) if you prefer.

new project submissions disabled
     posted by karl, Thu Nov 10 00:27:27 2011 - 0 replies

Very regrettably, due to a lack of volunteers, new non-GNU project
submissions are no longer accepted on Savannah, as of
9 November 2011. If active volunteers come forward, Savannah
will be re-opened.

See https://savannah.gnu.org/register/ for more information.

news comments disabled
     posted by karl, Mon Sep 12 18:16:52 2011 - 0 replies

Due to massive spamming of the "news" (aka forums) on savannah in recent
weeks, I've removed the UI that allows posting of comments on news
items. In practice, it seems that this was rarely or never used
legitimately (anyone who was actually making use of it ... sorry). ...

More Maintenance
     posted by mjflick, Sat Jul 30 00:22:43 2011 - 0 replies

Tomorrow (7/30/2011 around 16:00 UTC) I'll be upgrading two of savannah's domU's from debian lenny to debian squeeze. This may cause an hour or two of downtime.

CVS Email Commit Notifications
     posted by mjflick, Sat Jul 30 00:07:46 2011 - 0 replies

CVS email commit notifications are now working properly again, sending from the user's actual email address. This should solve the problem of the commit notifications being held for moderation.

Maintenance
     posted by mjflick, Sat Jul 23 19:24:07 2011 - 0 replies

During the last few days Savannah has been experiencing brief periods of unavailability due to system maintenance. Everything should be working properly now. Please report issues in the support request system.

Savannah Restored
     posted by mjflick, Sat Jun 4 22:49:05 2011 - 0 replies

On June 2nd 2011 ~16:00 UTC, the FSF system administrators began a Debian system upgrade on the machine which runs Savannah. Xen, which was upgraded to version 4.0, contains a bug that causes it not to be able to route interrupts for the machine's SATA controller.

After the sysadmin attempted to wrestle with Xen itself, they finally moved Savannah to another machine so that it could properly be restored.
